VŠB – Technical University of Ostrava is a Czech technical university with a long tradition in high-quality engineering which reflects the current state of the art of the technologies and the needs of the industry. There is a strong focus on the cooperation with the industry and fundamental as well as applied research on up-to-date open problems.
The University offers its experience in different areas of manufacturing. The areas covered are e.g. industrial automation and computing, intelligent systems, production management and engineering, materials engineering, nanotechnology, mechanical engineering and mechatronics, electrical engineering, power engineering, telecommunications, and computer Science. The competencies are provided by seven faculties and research institutes. Among others, the university is the host of the national supercomputing centre IT4Innovations and the centre Energy Units for Utilization of Non-Traditional Energy Sources (ENET) that conduct research in the fields of next-generation energy and high-performance computing for industry and technology.
