News
As we close the year, EFFRA is thrilled to present a special December edition of our newsletter, celebrating 15 years of driving innovation in European manufacturing. This milestone reflects over a decade of steadfast commitment to ensuring European manufacturing remains central to policy and research agendas. With every EU Framework Programme, EFFRA has championed the sector’s crucial role in fostering economic resilience and societal progress. This year’s newsletter encapsulates the strides we’ve made together in 2024 and sets the stage for what lies ahead.
2024: A Year of Growth and Achievement
This year, EFFRA welcomed over 10 new members, expanding our vibrant community dedicated to representing the private side of the manufacturing partnership with the European Commission. Among the highlights was the launch of six thematic working groups, addressing critical topics such as productive and flexible manufacturing, circularity, human aspects in the workplace, energy and mobility sector needs, and the exploitation of research results.
In addition to our 15th anniversary General Assembly, EFFRA hosted two large-scale events—each fostering collaboration and innovation. The Manufacturing Partnership Days expanded into a two-day event where over 30 projects showcased their progress. Similarly, the European Manufacturing Conference, co-organized with EIT Manufacturing and Manufuture, convened nearly 500 industry leaders, policymakers, and innovators to discuss the future of manufacturing innovation and sustainability.
Advancing the Made in Europe Programme
EFFRA’s dedication to the Made in Europe (MiE) partnership has brought impressive results. With 88 projects launched to date and over €9.4 billion dedicated to advancing MiE’s objectives, our community is driving impactful change. Highlights of 2024 include the approval of the Made in Europe Additional Activities Plan and the launch of public consultations shaping the 2025 call topics. The Biannual Report 2024 also presented promising intermediary results, underscoring the programme’s success.
Strengthening Our Presence
EFFRA proudly represented its initiatives at more than 40 events in 2024, including IndTech 2024 and CECIMO’s MTI Awards. These platforms allowed us to showcase the advancements of the PPP Made in Europe, build synergies with European partnerships, and engage in critical policy discussions.
A Call to Action for European Manufacturing
In November, EFFRA’s Board of Directors welcomed European R&I leader Manuel Heitor, whose “Align, Act, Accelerate” report set priorities for FP10. Alongside this, EFFRA led advocacy efforts with two pivotal white papers and initiatives like the #StrongerEuropeThroughManufacturing petition. These actions underline the need for sustained investment in European manufacturing innovation.
