The Advanced Manufacturing Innovation Centre (AMIC), led by Queen’s University Belfast, is an industry-led, open-access manufacturing and engineering innovation centre with state-of-the-art facilities and an expert engineering team, underpinned by academic excellence.  The Centre is a €115M investment in new capability and facilities for Industry 4.0 adoption serving a range of manufacturing sectors. We have deep expertise in those areas where Northern Ireland companies are world-leading – aerospace supply chain, materials handling, light-weighting, agri-food, renewable energy etc. We are building a new 10,500m2 facility to scale up, demonstrate and implement mid-TRL technologies in partnership with industry through four capability groups supported by teams of engineers:

  • Digital Factory
  • Smart Design
  • Sustainable Polymers and Composites
  • Nanotech and Photonics

We are developing industrial demonstration-scale pilot line equipment and have ongoing collaborations with SMEs and large companies in all manufacturing sectors across the island of Ireland.
