MindSphere is a comprehensive data hosting platform that allows to connect devices and assets from a manufacturer’s shop floor and to securely store operational data that has been acquired and transferred from these industrial assets to MindSphere.

MindSphere is explicitly designed to connect assets at industrial plants in an automated production environment. It is not meant, for example, for connecting cars or wind turbines. This is why this offering is called “MindSphere - Siemens Cloud for Industry”.

Key components of MindSphere are:

Open interfaces to connect industrial assets – machines, plants or entire fleets – in a simple and secure way, and irrespective of the manufacturer;
MindSphere products such as MindConnect IOT 2040 or MindConnect Nano, with which manufacturers can capture machine and plant data and transfer it securely to MindSphere;
Secure and encrypted transfer of data from the shop floor to MindSphere;
MindSphere runs on SAP HANA Cloud Platform;
Data-based services from Siemens (e.g. Machine Tool Analytics, Energy Analytics etc.), powered by Sinalytics (we reported earlier);
MindApps provided by Siemens (e.g. for predictive maintenance or energy data management services);
Additionally, a development platform is offered on which individual applications can be easily created.
