CIMES is a French 'pôle de compétitivité' (competitiveness cluster) devoted to smart manufacturing and mechanical engineering bringing around 400 members together, including companies (SMEs and groups), research centres and educational establishments with the aim of accelerating innovation and enabling the emergence of collaborative projects.
Its main mission is to coordinate the highly innovative regional ecosystems in order to think, develop and industrialize processes, products and services in the framework of industry of the future. To do so, CIMES’s thematic roadmap is built around three main topics:
- Engineering for manufacturing, materials and surfaces
- Integrated robotics and productive efficiency
- Optimized engineering for sustainable systems.
Since 2005, CIMES Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes labelled more than 415 R&D collaborative projects. More than 200 were funded: they involved more than 499 companies and 342 labs. 60 funded projects are deeply linked with the "Factory of the Future" domains (in the light of EFFRA's roadmap).
