Factories of the Future - Beyond 2013 Consultation

EFFRA began the development of its new strategic research roadmap, ‘Factories of the Future – Beyond 2013’ in anticipation of the continuation of the ‘Factories of the Future’ public-private partnership under the successor framework programme to FP-7.

Through its’ Industrial Research Advisory Group (IRAG), EFFRA compiled a consultation document with a focus on what should be the objectives, approach and scope of the 'Factories of the Future public-private partnership beyond 2013. This document formed the basis for a wide consultation phase in the roadmap development process.

The consultation document was supplied to EFFRA members and through the Manufuture platform, Manufuture NRTPs, related European Technology platforms and other networks. This provided an opportunity for interested stakeholders to express suggestions for improvement, completion and priority areas. Such suggestions will contribute to the construction of the strategic roadmap ‘Factories of the Future Beyond 2013’.

EFFRA received an unprecedented level of feedback from interested stakeholders, reviewing and amending the consultation document as a result in IRAG.

On 30 November 2011, the European Commission published its proposal for the next framework programme, called Horizon 2020. This programme covers the same period envisioned by the ‘Factories of the Future – Beyond 2013’ strategic research roadmap currently under development.

Work is continuing on this development with a second phase of stakeholder consultation to take place in early 2012.
