- Munich (DE), 22 & 23 February 2012 - PLM Innovation Congress

The PLM Innovation Congress takes place in Munich on 22 and 23 February, 2012.The PLM Innovation Congress is Europe's only independent technology PLM (Product Life-cycle Management) event.
Bringing together 300 senior end-users, thought leaders and select PLM vendors, the event aims to leverage the collective wealth of knowledge and experience to identify and encourage best practice. It further represents a unique networking opportunity.
The combination of a world class speaker roster, cross-industry case studies, targeted Think-Tanks and pre-qualified networking opportunities make this a leading PLM gathering. The congress event deals with themes around the digital factory concept, technologies and methodologies to optimise the design-manufacture process. This years' CeBIT conference takes place in Hannover from the 6 to 10 March.
CeBIT is the world's largest trade fare showcasing digital IT and telecommunications solutions. The overall theme of CeBIT 2012 is "managing trust" which refers to the need for a greater trust in IT industry solutions and applications

Aside form the main exhibition, four days of the conference have a specific theme around which key note speeches take place along with daily panel discussions. The themes are:
- Tuesday (6 March): "All things smart"
- Wednesday (7 March): "Flying the cloud"
- Thursday (8 March): "Connect your lifestyle"
- Friday (9 March): "Social Business"

- San Sebastián (ES), 7 & 8 March 2012 - 9th International Conference on High Speed Machining

The first call for papers for the 9th International Conference on High Speed Machining is now open. The conference will take place in San Sebastián, Spain, on the 7 and 8 March 2012 at the Kursaal Conference Centre. The conference is being organised by Tekniker (EFFRA member), PTW, the Research Centre for Manufacturing, Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics and PM2. It will focus on a wide selection of topics, including:
- Tribology of cutting tool wear
- Cutting vibration
- High performance machining
- High performance machine tools
- Monitoring and control
- CAD/CAM

- Salamanca (ES), 28, 29 & 30 March 2012 Hybrid Artificial Intelligence Systems (HAIS)

The 7th International Conference on Hybrid Artificial Intelligence Systems (HAIS) will be held in Salamanca on 28, 29 & 30 March 2012 (*dates to be confirmed). It is organized by the BISITE group of the University of Salamanca.The conference will focus on a number of areas including:
- Evolutionary Computation
- Intelligent agent-based systems (complex systems), cognitive and Reactive distributed AI systems
- Data mining and decision support systems
- Internet modelling
EFFRA member, Wroclaw University of Technology, is co-organising a special session of the conference which will focus on hybrid artificial intelligence systems in management of production systems. Wroclaw University of Technology are looking for papers to be presented during this session.

- Aarhus (DK), 19, 20 & 21 June 2012 - Industrial Technologies 2012

The second Industrial Technologies conference will take place over three days (19, 20 & 21 June 2012) in Aarhus, Denmark. Registration for this event is now open: click here.
This conference is a major industrial technology conference of 2012, brining together representatives of industry, research, the European Union and other key stakeholders. Taking place in co-operation with the Danish presidency of the Council of the European Union, this is the second in a series of conference that occur bi-annually - the first conference having taken place in Brussels (2010).
The theme of the conference is 'integrating nano, materials and production'.
Some of the key questions that will be discussed:
- What are the most significant barriers to innovation, and how can these be overcome?
- Which are the success stories of NMP under FP7, especially projects that have combined breakthrough technological innovation with significant industrial impact?
- The identification of innovative solutions to unfavourable framework conditions which acutely affect industrial technologies, including access to funding, market fragmentation, and regulation.
Three conference plenaries with high profile speakers will occur during the conference with an additional 18 sessions, featuring 70 speakers, also taking place.
Networking will be a central part of this conference, a full matchmaking day will be held on Thursday, 21st. Interested participants will create profiles in advance, identify who they would like to meet and book a face-to-face meeting. A number of site visits to local companies and research institutes will also take place on this day.
At present the conference is in the planning stage, however as a this represents a major event interested parties should mark this into their calendars early since there will be a high demand for places.

- Stuttgart (DE) 16, 17 & 18 October 2012 - World Manufacturing Forum

Following up on a successful Forum in 2011, the 2012 World Manufacturing Forum will take place on 16, 17 and 18 October in Stuttgart, Germany.
The theme of the conference is 'smart policies for global manufacturing innovation'. Under this theme the conference will explore the challenges for manufacturing innovation in the context of policy makers' concerns.
A number of high profile speakers will participate and discuss the management of strategic resources such as water, fossil fuels, and rare earth elements and outline how governments can support global manufacturing innovation by increasing the sustainability of business operations and by lowering the risk of conflicts through effective dialogue and international S&T cooperation.
Participants will include representatives from industry, research organisations, academia, the public sector and other interested stakeholders.
