Factories of the Future Call Published
BRUSSELS - 26 July. The European Commission has published the ‘Factories of the Future’ 2012 call.
As part of FP7, the European Commission is providing €160 million to support research, development and innovation for projects under ‘Factories of the Future’ PPP. Specific call topics have been published under the NMP and ICT work programmes.

The ICT work programme features two Factories of the Future call topics:
- FoF-ICT-2011.7.1 Smart Factories
- FoF-ICT-2011.7.2 Manufacturing solutions for new ICT products)

The NMP work programme features seven Factories of the Future call topics:
- FoF.NMP.2012-1 Adaptive production systems and measurement and control equipment for optimal energy consumption and near-to-zero emissions in manufacturing processes
- FoF.NMP.2012-2 Methodologies and tools for the sustainable, predictive maintenance of production equipment
- FoF.NMP.2012-3 Intelligent production machines and 'plug-and-produce' devices for the adaptive system integration of automation equipment, robots and other intelligent machines, peripheral devices, smart sensors and industrial IT systems
- FoF.NMP.2012-4 High-performance manufacturing technologies in terms of efficiency (volumes, speed, process capability etc), robustness and accuracy
- FoF.NMP.2012-5 High precision production technologies for high quality 3D micro-parts
- FoF.NMP.2012-6 Knowledge-based tools and approaches for process planning and integrated process simulation at factory level
- FoF.NMP.2012-7 Innovative technologies for casting, material removing and forming processes

The ‘Project Participants Portal’ is a dedicated site where interested applicants can find all of the information on FP7 calls. As a result of this dedicated site, call related information will no longer be published on the CORDIS site.The new Portal can be accessed here.
An entire information package including the call topics (in the work programme ICT and NMP) is available on the Portal. In addition, a detailed ‘Guide for Applicants’ has been released accompanied by annexes covering specific call topics.
The final deadline for project submissions has closed.
